As pressures increase on the food service industry, supermarkets and Local Authorities to recycle of more food waste, many supermarkets are looking for alternatives to landfill, but find they have to travel considerable distances to achieve there goals.
The Vertal ATAD* system is designed to accept both loose food waste from the catering industry and packaged waste from food retail outlets. The system does not require you to separate the food at store, increasing the number of bins you need and another task for your staff.
The processing plant at Mitcham, south London is ideally situated to reduce you transport costs by recycling well within the M25, just a few miles from the city.
The Vertal 3rd generation ATAD* processing plant is purpose built to take the following food waste streams:
- Source separated food waste from domestic dwellings - Packaged waste - Restaurant, kitchen and canteen waste - Fast food outlets - Hospital catering - Out-of-date stock (foods & beverages) - Contaminated foods - Supermarket “passed shelf life” food products - ABPR category 3 waste
Many composting processes can only take a small percentage of food waste as the daily intake in relation to garden waste; the Vertal ATAD* system uses a special process to take organic liquids and food waste to produce a high quality fertilizer ready for use by the farming community.
*(ATAD = Autothermal Thermophilic Aerobic Digestion)
A further benefit of the Vertal system is we will be able to offer you the Voluntary Carbon Trading Credits that we earn for treating your waste and reducing carbon emissions.
